Mandiee O'brien

Nose Work Instructor

Growing up, Mandiee used to be afraid of dogs. When she saw a dog she did the number one thing you shouldn't do when you see a dog! RUN! It wasn't until later in life that she met an Old English Sheepdog, that showed her that dogs aren't so scary, and won her over. Years later, never owning a dog herself, she decided it was time. After researching many different breeds, she fell in love with the border collie. People warned her how it's not always the best choice for first time dog owners, but she stepped up to the challenge and never looked back. It was with her very energetic Border Collie, Vash that opened up the exciting world of dog sports and training for her. With the help of Vash, she met wonderful new friends, learned some very important lessons in training and found a hobby that's taken over and could always see herself doing. Mandiee has now widened up her dog sports to include nosework. Having experience handling dogs for bed bug detection, she is now having a blast training her newest Border Collie, Harley Quinn to do the same thing. Harley Quinn is showing great progress with it, and most importantly they are both having a blast doing it together. Mandiee's end goal would be to see nosework become a more active sport in Canada. It's a sport any dog of any age can do, and you don't need any previous training. It's also a great way to mentally exercise your dog and strengthen your relationship with them.

Mandiee is owned by two Border Collies, Legato and Harley Quinn and a True Hairless Chinese Crested named Xiobahn. When not playing with her dogs, she's kept busy with her 6 year old daughter, Autumn Skye, who already having a very active role with dogs since she was a baby, also can't wait to get out there and do dog sports.
